Because of the pervasiveness of K. Lewin's intellectual contributions to contemporary social psychology, 2 volumes of his collected writings, "Resolving Social Conflicts," and "Field Theory in Social Science," are being reissued in this] one comprehensive volume. The reissuing as a single volume is being done in part because, as D. Cartwright wrote in his Preface, both volumes are integrally related parts of Lewin's work. In "Resolving Social Conflicts," Lewin's writings reflect the applied psychologist—his practical interests in the nature and causes of social conflicts and his search for techniques in preventing and resolving them. In "Field Theory in Social Science," his concerns are those of the social scientist and the conceptual and methodological tools for understanding the individual and society. Life is full of transitions. These transitions have to be approached, shaped, processed and integrated into our lives in some way. Regardless of the belief in a God, traditional structures always come into view, here especially religiously traditional rites of passage such as baptism and circumcision, communion or bar/bat mitzvah, marriage as well as convalescence, death and funeral rites. What is the psychological function of religiously traditional rites of passage today? This question will be investigated with the help of interactive interviews with functionaries and members of the religious communities of all three monotheistic currents in Northern Europe, flanked by two interviews with atheists. The author Kathrin Rothenberg-Elder, grew up in Niger, Algeria and Germany; studied psychology, practical theology and modern German literature, doctorate on Christian threshold rituals. Professor of psychology at the diploma university (focus on social and environmental psychology), numerous exhibitions as a photographer in Germany and abroad (focus on interreligious dialogue) and publications as an author (focus on specialist literature and poetry). This book is a translation of an original German edition. The translation was done with the help of artificial intelligence (machine translation by the service DeepL.com). A subsequent human revision was done primarily in terms of content, so that the book will read stylistically differently from a conventional translation.

This book will interest anyone seeking a comprehensive understanding of the psychological relationship between individual psychological dynamics, social structure and the unconscious collective paradigms. It focuses on an analysis of patriarchal culture, which is, as it were, the psychological enclosure in which all individual and collective processes take place. The author Dr Dieter Sandner is a psychoanalyst and group analyst in private practice in Munich. He studied psychology, sociology and philosophy at the University of Munich and habilitated in 1995 at the Faculty of Cultural Studies at the University of Klagenfurt in "Psychology with Special Reference to Psychoanalysis".
